DESERTS DE POCHE – DJ COMPLEX

Deserts de poche – DJ Complex, is a project located in the southern of Tunisia into an area that is a door between the sea and the desert.
The project Deserts de poche – DJ Complex consists of two independent buildings: the DJ House #1 and the DJ Center #2. The program is composed by a private house with temporary residencies for artists and by a center of arts. Around the buildings there is a garden that fits into the landscape of this part of the island quite eliminating the idea of limits and boundaries.
The garden inside this landscape is characterized by the view of the sea, the yellow desert sand and Mediterranean essences and trees such as palms and olive trees
The project is based on the reinterpretation of the site and of its architecture which is characterized by white stereometric volumes echoing the sandy landscape of the desert and the clear blue sky that caractherizes this region. The DJ Complex was designed referring to the thickness of the walls and the juxtaposition of volumes and masses that are set into a landscape of sand bathed by a clear light.
The project rediscovers the local techniques of construction to define a contemporary architecture and to search for traditional solutions aiming at ensuring a natural cooling of the rooms. They should also allow to eliminate all the mechanical system for the environmental quality control.
The relationship between stereometric volumes and landscape reinterprets the values of the site, expresses its contemporary dimension and defines a set of “deserts de poche” as places of peace and retreat from the convulsive rhythms of modernity that rechoing the atmosphere described in the book “You must change your life” written by the philosopher Peter Sloterdijk.

The Project for the New Integrated Complex within the Bologna Railway Station sets a new urban order that interacts with the various elements of the territory. It will represent a new  access to the city and the entire regional and metropolitan system.
Through the New Integrated Complex within the Bologna railway Station, the project aims to link two parts of the city separated by the the railroad’s cutting and will set the connections between two parts of the city that are historically separated: the old town and the Bolognina district.
The settlement of the entrance to the New Railway along the Bridge Matteotti allow to bind the architecture and the city.
The new urban configuration of Independenza Street is flanked, on the western edge, by the canalredevelopment of a section of the Navile canal: this new urban park makes possible the use of the area by pedestrians and cyclists, recovering the historical traces related to the use of the waterways that have characterized theoriginal relationship between the city and its territory.

…

MASTERPLAN DI SVILUPPO URBANO E NUOVA STAZIONE FERROVIARIA DI BOLOGNA

.

The masterplan for the waterfront of Valencia defines a design approach that deals with the simultaneous presence of infrastructure, housing, historical buildings, public space and temporary uses. The master plan of the harbour is not a separate plan of the city but, rather, a tool that poses the urban design as a tool to integrate the rules of the land use and the flexibility of urban forms linked to differents flows and cross-modality.
The design relates to the different dimensions that characterize this context, taking in account the specificities of a place defined by a rural landscape characterized by the relationship between soil and water. Through a combination of curved design elements, the masterplan joins and sorts the different sizes and uses of the area.
The design of the dock fits in continuity with the urban design and interacts with the urban infrastructures of the new roads that connect the city to the sea. The space in front of the dock connects to the Avenida de France and joins with the new district of the PAI de Grao with buildings placed  in the urban park that stay in the end of the garden Linear Turia. The square facing the sea on which the existing Tinglados connects to the new Passenger Terminal and the park will be built on the eastern pier. So, all the elements of the site are involved in the urban scene and interact on the the new dock.

MASTERPLAN PER IL WATERFRONT DI VALENCIA AMERICA’S CUP

.

HOUSING AND CULTURAL CENTRE IN PESARO

Description

The intervention in the area of the old Juvenile Prison aims to make permeable and accessible this important urban area that is returned to the use of the community of Pesaro. For this reason, the fencesin the area are removed and the built elements are permeable, without any barriers that hinder the connections between internal and external spaces.
The central element of the intervention is the public park, located between the building of the old Juvenile Prison and the area of the new residences and offices. The open space is configured as an intermediate place between the historic city, characterized by the compactness of the built environment, and the new town, characterized by the fragmentary construction made by the regular blocks placed along the coastline.
The project of the garden involves the construction of a main avenue that crosses longitudinally the garden connecting the new and the old city. The project of the residences combines differents volumes that rise from the ground and define the building like a big arcade-bridge over the new urban park.

…

Description

SELF FAB HOUSE

Description

Introduction
The self Fab house is a self-built house, a dynamic device able to build a living space automatically.
The Rising House recoups mechanical aspects which have been excluded from the digital developmentthat has colonised the contemporary imagination. The mechanical device separates what it is from what it becomes, what is taken from history and what belongs to the present. The retrieval of the mechanical form should have an important impact on sustainability as repairs can be made enabling a long life at a low cost.

Concept
The Rising House combines advanced technology of energy supply and simple construction using the mechanism of a folded pantograph for the industrial lifting plates. Through the movement of the pantograph the space is configured into one or two levels using the energy stored in the photovoltaic panels.
The idea of selfbuilding combines prefabrication with automatic construction, building the space without external help.

AutoConstruction / Self Fab
The ideal sites for the location of the Rising House are places with restricted access, both from an energy point of view and the supply of materials. The house can be also used in disaster zones (war, flooding, hurricanes, etc…) which are deprived of infrastructure in terms of energy and organisation.
The closed object is positioned on the chosen site. The energy necessary for its construction is absorbed through the photovoltaic panels.
The stored energy is used to activate the pantograph mechanism that enables the superimposed floors to position themselves at a fixed height. The configuration of the floors is at one or two levels.
The skin spreads out (stretches) along the edges of the building enabling the customisation of the height and creating a different relationship with the exterior. In this way the exterior image is characterised by the variations in the folding mechanism.
