DESERTS DE POCHE – DJ COMPLEX

Deserts de poche – DJ Complex, is a project located in the southern of Tunisia into an area that is a door between the sea and the desert.
The project Deserts de poche – DJ Complex consists of two independent buildings: the DJ House #1 and the DJ Center #2. The program is composed by a private house with temporary residencies for artists and by a center of arts. Around the buildings there is a garden that fits into the landscape of this part of the island quite eliminating the idea of limits and boundaries.
The garden inside this landscape is characterized by the view of the sea, the yellow desert sand and Mediterranean essences and trees such as palms and olive trees
The project is based on the reinterpretation of the site and of its architecture which is characterized by white stereometric volumes echoing the sandy landscape of the desert and the clear blue sky that caractherizes this region. The DJ Complex was designed referring to the thickness of the walls and the juxtaposition of volumes and masses that are set into a landscape of sand bathed by a clear light.
The project rediscovers the local techniques of construction to define a contemporary architecture and to search for traditional solutions aiming at ensuring a natural cooling of the rooms. They should also allow to eliminate all the mechanical system for the environmental quality control.
The relationship between stereometric volumes and landscape reinterprets the values of the site, expresses its contemporary dimension and defines a set of “deserts de poche” as places of peace and retreat from the convulsive rhythms of modernity that rechoing the atmosphere described in the book “You must change your life” written by the philosopher Peter Sloterdijk.

Description The construction of the project Urban Park and Integrated Complex of Primary and Secondary School and Public Facilities in Romanina has been completed on 2012, the project was designed by Herman Hertzberger and Marco Scarpinato after winning the international competition 3 new schools in Rome. The integrated complex alternates spaces dedicated to study and for socializing, enhancing the continuity between the two and emphasizing the relationship between interior and outdoor spaces. The project defines a new urban centrality with facilities for the community including: gymnasium, auditorium, restaurant and creative laboratories integrated with the learning spaces. This means that the school will be open to the entire city and will be a place of encounter and exchange even in non-school hours. An urban park with a teaching garden and facilities for sport and playgrounds will be realized in the next phase of the project in order to integrate the complex in the green spaces open to the people of the neighborhood.

Description La costruzione del progettoParco Urbano e complesso integrato di Scuola Primaria e Secondaria con strutture pubbliche a Romanina è stato completato nel 2012, il progetto é stato realizzato da Herman Hertzberger e Marco Scarpinato dopo aver vinto il concorso internazionale 3 nuove scuole a Roma. Gli spazi del Complesso Scolastico Integrato alternano aree dedicate allo studio e per la socializzazione, migliorando la continuità tra i due e sottolineando la relazione tra spazi interni ed esterni. Il progetto definisce una nuova centralit  urbana con servizi per la comunità tra cui: palestra, auditorium, ristorante e laboratori creativi integrati con gli spazi di apprendimento. Ciò significa che la scuola sarà  aperta a tutta la città e sarà un luogo di incontro e di scambio anche in ore non scolastiche. Un parco urbano con un orto didattico e strutture per lo sport e campi da gioco sarà  realizzato nella fase successiva del progetto al fine di integrare il complesso negli spazi verdi aperti alla gente del quartiere.

The project aims to set a new architectural and artistic functions of the two cranes on the Palermo’s harbour. The goal is that the two cranes became a new symbolic place of the city, where the interaction between harbour and city became the new door of the Mediterranean. This project set an organic action capable to restoring the image of a renewed relationship between the city and its harbour and fits within the strategy of the urban revitalization of the Palermo waterfront.
The south crane includes the construction of an outdoor theater with a terrace that becomes a symbol of the new centrality of urban life tied to the harbour. The project  for the south crane allows to rethink the relationship between the city and its landscape.
The project for the north crane aims to rethink the relationship between the city of Palermo and its sea, in fact this crane is designed as a container of water’s activities related with culture and  leisure. In the north crane we plan many different functions: bar-cafeteria, swimming pool, solarium, fitness area, area for yoga, garden,spaces for reading and art gallery.

RIFUNZIONALIZZAZIONE ARTISTICA E ARCHITETTONICA DELLE DUE GRU DEL PORTO DI PALERMO

Il progetto artistico-architettonico di rifunzionalizzazione delle due gru scaricatori di rinfuse del porto di Palermo quale luogo simbolo dell’interazione tra porto e città  rappresenta una nuova Porta del Mediterraneo e, come azione organica capace di restituire l’icona di un rinnovato rapporto tra la città  e il suo porto, s’inserisce all’interno della strategia di rivitalizzazione del waterfront urbano portuale.
Nella gru sud si prevede la realizzazione di un teatro all’aperto con una gradonata che diventa simbolo della nuova centralità  della vita urbana legata al porto. Il progetto per la gru sud permette di ripensare la relazione che la città  ha con il suo paesaggio, con l’accoglienza e con l’idea d’incontro.
Il progetto per la gru nord intende ripensare la relazione che la città  di Palermo ha con il suo mare. Questa gru è, infatti, pensata come un contenitore di attività  legate all’acqua, alla cultura e al loisir: bar caffetteria, piscina, solarium, area fitness, area per attività  yoga, giardino, area lettura e galleria d’arte.

The core of the Nursery and Primary School is conceived as a new layer that overlaps the ancient Roman landscape and became part of this. We decided to preserve the olive grove as a memory with which children can play and, removing as few trees as possible, we build the school in the landscape.
The grid of the olive grove sets the building and defines the pace of the walls in brick. The east and west edges of the building are open to the outside and include new and old landscapes in the spaces of the school.
The learning spaces are shifted and moved along the regular grid and the building is characterized with a variable border between internal and external spaces. The spaces of the school allow to organize teaching moments in the relationship with nature.
To the east, the edge of the building is defined by a system of teaching gardens where is possible to plant fruit trees, flowers and small vegetable gardens teaching. This system is linked with the organization of the green path to the urban park Prato Smeraldo.
The building is full of light and air: the roof is like a three-dimensional fabric, with a design that seems the intertwining of the branches of trees through which filters the light. From the outside, the two schools are perceived as a continuous building, covered by a variable pitched roof that, like a soft blanket backed by dividing walls, let pour down the light from above, through windows facing the sky.

PRATO SMERALDO | SCUOLA PRIMARIA E DELL’INFANZIA A ROMA

Il nucleo della Scuola dell’Infanzia e della Scuola Primaria è concepito come un nuovo strato che si sovrappone all’antico paesaggio romano e ne diventa parte, per questo conserviamo l’uliveto come una memoria con cui i bambini potranno giocaree, rimuovendo il minor numero possibile di alberi, costruiamo la scuola nel paesaggio.
La griglia dell’uliveto è riportata nell’edificio definendo il ritmo delle pareti trasversali in mattoni. I bordi est ed ovest dell’edificio si aprono sull’esterno lasciando che nuovi e antichi paesaggi entrino nella scuola.
Le classi e gli spazi didattici sono slittati e spostati lungo la griglia regolatrice definendo un bordo variabile tra interno ed esterno. L’oliveto, con le sue grandi chiome che ombreggiano il suolo, rimanda allo spazio coperto della scuola, come un sistema di aule all’aperto che permette di organizzare momenti didattici in rapporto con la natura.
Ad est il margine del costruito è definito da un sistema di giardini scolastici “privati“ dove sarà possibile impiantare alberi da frutta, fiori e piccoli orti didattici; questo sistema si collega visivamente all’organizzazione dell’area di verde pubblico orientata sud-nord trattata come un viale d’accesso al parco urbano di Prato Smeraldo.
L’edificio è pieno di luce e di aria: il tetto è modellato come un tessutotridimensionale, con un disegno che ricorda l’intreccio delle chiome degli alberi attraverso cui filtra la luce del giorno. Dall’esterno, le due scuole sono percepite come un edificio continuo, coperto da un unico tetto con falde variabiliche, come una morbida coperta sostenuta dai setti murari lascia piovere la luce dall’alto attraverso finestre che guardano il cielo.

CULTURAL AND SPORT CENTRE IN ROME

Description

The site where will be built the cultural center “Città  Alessandrina” is located is located along a road that joins the impressive remains of a Roman aqueduct and the Alessandrino Park. In the project of the cultural center and of the open spaces we chosen to interpret the site as the node that communicates with two different sizes: the size of the landscape to the north, towards Via dei Meli, and the urban size in south towards Via degli Olmi.
The new building, with its predominantly longitudinal system, it is as a node between the city and the park, a final element of an urban system that is easily accessible on foot, by bicycle or car. The original topography is maintained and the accesses to the cultural center are located, respectively, on north and south of the site.
Via dei Meli is a winding path through the garden, characterized by the presence of a pre-existing reeds system and of terraces with shrubs that joins the cycle path, a large water tank and a terraced that can be used for performances. This path through the landscape leads to a lower level of the center where are the spaces for recreational activities and for the physiotherapy; an additional access to the sport areas is on the above level, through a bridge that with a raised path on the channel joins to the bicycle path.

Descrizione

II sito dove sorgerà  il Centro culturale integrato Città  Alessandrina è posto lungo una strada che costeggiagli imponenti resti dell’acquedotto romano ed il Parco Alessandrino con la cisterna idrica. Nel progetto del Centro e degli spazi aperti si è scelto di interpretare il sito come il nodo che dialoga con due differenti dimensioni: la dimensione del paesaggio a nord, verso Via dei Meli, e la dimensione urbana a sud, verso Via degli Olmi.
ll nuovo edificio, con il suo impianto prevalentemente longitudinale, è come un nodo tra la città e il parco, un elemento finale di un sistema urbano facilmente accessibile sia a piedi sia in bicicletta o in automobile. L’orografia originale è mantenuta e gli accessi all’area del Centro culturale sono posti, rispettivamente, a nord ed a sud del sito.
Da Via dei Meli si snoda un percorso che attraversa il giardino caratterizzato dalla presenza del canneto preesistente, dal sistema di terrazzamenti con arbusti che lambisce la pista ciclopedonale, da un’ampia vasca d’acqua e da una gradinata che potrà  essere utilizzata per performances all’aperto. Attraverso questo percorso nel paesaggiosi accede alla quota inferiore del centro negli spazi destinati alle attività  sportive e fisioterapiche, un ulteriore accesso agli spazi delle attività  sportive è posto alla quota superiore attraversando un ponte che, con un percorso sopraelevato sul canale, giunge alla pista ciclo pedonale.

HOUSING AND CULTURAL CENTRE IN PESARO

Description

The intervention in the area of the old Juvenile Prison aims to make permeable and accessible this important urban area that is returned to the use of the community of Pesaro. For this reason, the fencesin the area are removed and the built elements are permeable, without any barriers that hinder the connections between internal and external spaces.
The central element of the intervention is the public park, located between the building of the old Juvenile Prison and the area of the new residences and offices.  The open space is configured as an intermediate place between the historic city, characterized by the compactness of the built environment, and the new town, characterized by the fragmentary construction made by the regular blocks placed along the coastline.
The project of the garden involves the construction of a main avenue that crosses longitudinally the garden connecting the new and the old city. The project of the residences combines differents volumes that rise from the ground and define the building like a big arcade-bridge over the new urban park.

Description

L’intervento nell’ambito dell’ex Carcere Minorile mira a rendere permeabile e fruibile questa importante area urbana che viene restituita all’uso della collettività  e alla vita della città  di Pesaro. Per questo tutti i recinti presentinell’area sono abbattuti e le parti costruite sono trattate come elementi permeabili che non frappongono barriere nette tra interno ed esterno.
L’elemento centrale del’intervento è il parco pubblico, posto tra il comparto dell’edificio storico dell’ex Carcere Minorile e l’area destinata alla realizzazione di residenze ed attività  terziarie. Lo spazio aperto si configura come un luogo intermedio tra la città  storica, caratterizzata dalla compattezza del costruito, e la città  nuova, caratterizzata dalla costruzione per frammenti, articolata secondo una maglia a isolati regolari disposti lungo la fascia costiera.
Il progetto del giardino prevede la realizzazionedi un viale principale che attraversa longitudinalmente l’area connettendo la città  storica ed alla città  moderna. Il progetto delle residenze si articola secondo una combinazione di volumi che sollevandosi dal suolo definiscono l’edificio come un grande portico-ponte sul parco..
